OUR MISSION
We strive to help clients resolve complex property damage claims with confidence and efficiency. We do this by offering clear, concise, and honest expert opinions utilizing science, technology, and years of experience. Our mission is to provide this service with the utmost professionalism while remaining adaptable to client needs and approachable.
Founding Partners
Over a decade ago, three engineers and Florida natives became quick friends when we started our careers together on Edgewood Drive in Lakeland, Florida. Edgewood Engineering is a continuation of that journey together, combining our skills and experience in structural forensics and geotechnical engineering to assist with thousands of property damage cases across the Sunshine State with the best engineering services possible.
Daniel Sanders, PE
Daniel is a founding Managing Partner and Professional Engineer. He has over a decade of experience in structural forensics, inspecting thousands of properties, and providing expert testimony. He also has experience with geotechnical testing and some structural design. Prior to engineering, Daniel was a skilled tradesman working in swimming pool remodeling and construction and other trade work.
In his free time, Daniel enjoys music, traveling, and spending time with his family and two dogs (Nola and Harvey), a Great Dane and a Catahoula leopard hound mix.
Jordan Bjorn, MCE, PE, HI
Jordan is a founding Managing Partner and Professional Engineer. He has a decade of experience in structural forensics, geotechnical engineering, and expert testimony. Jordan has a passion for geotechnical testing and design and has been a part of several notable projects throughout Lakeland and Central Florida.
Outside of work, Jordan enjoys spending time with his wife and two kids.
Shayne Lester, PE, MRSA, HI
Shayne is a founding Professional Engineer and Managing Partner with more than a decade of experience in forensic engineering and Cause and Origin investigations related to property damage claims. He has conducted thorough inspections of thousands of properties, covering a diverse range of issues. Shayne has also provided expert testimony in numerous depositions and at trial, demonstrating his expertise and reliability in the field. Additionally, he maintains active licenses as a Florida-licensed Home Inspector and Florida-licensed Mold Assessor, showcasing his commitment to continued growth and knowledge.
In his free time, Shayne enjoys spending time with his wife of 10 years and their three young children, traveling as much as possible, woodworking, exercising, and playing pickleball.

Jeremy Bernauer, PE, RRO
Jeremy is our Chief Engineer with 24 years of engineering experience, with nearly 15 years of that focused exclusively on forensics and expert witness testimony. He is a licensed Professional Engineer and a certified Registered Roofing Observer with extensive litigation experience, conducting thousands of forensic inspections of residential and commercial properties damaged by a multitude of causes and for many different clients.
Jeremy has a genuine passion for all things engineering, but the highlight of his day is going home to his wife, their two sons, a Goldendoodle, and two miniature donkeys. In his free time, Jeremy enjoys camping, hiking, golfing, and homeschooling adventures with his family, as well as volunteering for leadership of his sons’ Trail Life troop.

Nicole DiPerna, PE
Nicole is a Senior Forensic Structural Engineer and Expert Witness with years of experience in the industry. Nicole has managed Residential and Commercial Cause and Origin investigations for a multitude of clients over the years, establishing herself as a client favorite. Prior to her time in forensics, Nicole gained experience in land development and civil engineering design.
In her free time, Nicole enjoys spending time with friends and family; traveling; and playing soccer.

Mark Knight, MCE, PE, CBC, MRSA
Mark brings years of experience as a Professional Engineer, focusing on structural forensics and expert testimony. Mark is also a Certified Building Contractor, providing estimating services in addition to his duties as a forensic engineer. He has a master’s in structural engineering. Prior to his role in structural forensics, Mark was in transportation design, working on several roadway projects throughout Tampa and Central Florida.
Mark enjoys spending quality time with his wife, family, and friends. Outside of work, you will find him enjoying sports, skimboarding, relaxing on the beach, running, and attending concerts.

Sergius Casey, MCE, PE, CGC
Sergius (Serge) is a Professional Engineer and Certified General Contractor in Florida who performs forensic Cause and Origin investigations and comparative contractor estimating. He earned both a Bachelor and Master of Science - with a focus in Structural Civil Engineering - from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. Prior to specializing in structural forensics, Serge worked as a Project Engineer supporting multidisciplinary engineering designs, served as a Senior Inspector on FDOT bridge and roadway projects, and has worked across numerous construction trades.
Serge enjoys the outdoors, time with his English Cream Retriever, whiskey, lifting things, and absorbing leftovers from company functions.

Dexter Rodriguez, PE
Dexter is a Professional Engineer with a focus in structural forensics. Dexter brings years of experience in construction and inspections to the table, with prior experience in Construction Engineering Inspections, Project Management, and general construction trade experience.
Dexter enjoys spending time with his family, racing, and hunting in his free time.

Jamie Morgante, PE
Jamie is a Professional Engineer, focusing on forensic engineering. Jamie brings a wide variety of talents to the team, with experience in Forensics; Structural, Civil, and Roadway Design, Project Management, and Roof Construction.
She enjoys spending time with her family, hitting the gym, and being productive.

Kyle Eckley, EI
Kyle is an Engineering Intern (EI), with a Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering and a Bachelors of Science in Aerospace Engineering. Kyle is currently working on his Masters in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Central Florida. Kyle is a wealth of knowledge, assisting our Professional Engineers on site with data collection and technology deployment.

Ray Light, MRSA, HI
Ray is a Senior Engineering Technician and Building Consultant. He has several years of experience in structural forensics, which has given him excellent insight into Cause and Origin investigations. He is also a Florida-licensed Home Inspector and Mold Assessor. If that wasn’t enough, Ray is our technology specialist, conducting 3D scans and aerial drone photography.
Ray enjoys theme parks and time with his wife and two kids.

Andres Bello Guzman
Andres is an Engineering Technician. Through hundreds of site inspections, Andres has provided valuable assistance to the team during forensic Cause and Origin investigations, including completing 3D Scans and ariel drone photography. He received his Associate in Arts degree from St. Petersburg College and speaks fluent Spanish.
On the weekends, Andres enjoys playing videogames, listening to music, and is always on the lookout for new, interesting places to eat.

Kennedy Knox
Kennedy is our Client Relations Director, responsible for building and maintaining strong, long-term relationships with both clients and marketing colleagues. Since joining Edgewood at its inception in 2023, she has enjoyed being part of the company’s growth and the journey along the way.
She focuses on creating meaningful connections, fostering clear communication, and supporting continued success across all partnerships. Kennedy also proudly serves on the boards of the Orlando Claims Association, Fore Women in Insurance, and APIW Tampa, reflecting her commitment to the industry and professional community.
Outside of work, Kennedy enjoys traveling, snowboarding, and attending live music concerts with her husband whenever she can.

Kensie Alexander
Kensie is our Marketing Associate and helps out our scheduling team. She has a Bachelors in Marketing and can be seen at nearly all of our events.
In her free time, she enjoys traveling to new places, spending time with friends, and of course her dog, Winston.
